_Job Specifications_
Leading a team of trade and implementation Specialists and Analysts
Ensure the smooth and efficient running of the trade and rebalance function including leading automation activities
Ensure team members are delivering service to the company standards, by planning, leading, organizing & controlling a teams duties
Offer training and mentorship to the team
Will be required to assist the team in the delivery of outputs when required
Ensure operational excellence, via efficient and flexible procedures which are well-implemented and documented
Provide continuous coaching & support to team members
Ensure team members have access to all necessary resources and tools to complete their job functions and ensure further training is provided where necessary
Integration of new team members into the team, performance feedback, and reviews
Planning, managing & reporting of team leave
Motivation and development of staff
Participate in internal projects
Initiate, drive, and support internal improvement initiatives within the Invest department to ensure continuous business improvement


Technical responsibilities:
Accurately execute trade instructions to effect changes to client portfolios, as instructed by clients and the Portfolio Management Team, including:
Booking and confirming trades with foreign exchange agents
Preparing and submitting derivative trading instructions to the derivatives agent and following up for trade confirmations
Work closely with the Portfolio Management Team to manage derivative rolls and ensure that no trades or rolls are missed
Perform pre-trade analysis for larger flows and provide instructions to be carried out by the Administration Team
Work closely with the Administration Team to guide them on instructions required for portfolio changes such as rebalances, adding or removing managers, benchmark changes, and drawdowns
Manage the onboarding of clients to new derivative contracts and new products, in collaboration with the Portfolio Management Team and the Operations teams
Provide feedback on the completion of executed trades to the Portfolio Management Team
Review portfolios regularly to ensure that they are aligned with their target positions
Attend review meetings to address any queries related to changes in the portfolios
Liaise with asset managers regarding valuations and reports; address queries raised on performance data

Execute trades for transition management clients, including:
Drafting instructions for the execution of a transition
Preparing files and trading on behalf of clients
Matching trades and preparing pre-and post-trading reports
Assist in preparing proposals, client report-backs, and other ad hoc queries/reports
Attend external meetings, when required and appropriate
Build and maintain relationships with brokers, internal teams, and other stakeholders


_Minimum Requirements_
Bachelors degree which can be FAIS recognised
B.Com., B.Bus.
Sci, B.Sc. (Maths, Accounting, Statistics, Finance) or equivalent.
Open to other tertiary qualifications depending on experience and evidence of quantitative abilities.
8-10 years experience in investment management or related industry
FAIS RE 5 exam passed
Prior experience managing a team or individuals
Combination of strong emotional intelligence and technical skills
Knowledge of domestic and international financial markets including forex and derivatives trading
Analytical and able to absorb large sets of data
Accuracy and attention to detail
Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
Good time management, and ability to manage deadlines
Able to work under pressure and multi-task
Ability to function positively under pressure, plan for and meet deadlines
Problem-solving / solutions-focused ability and mindset
Manage own priorities and collaborate successfully with others as part of a team
Use initiative, be proactive, and with problem-solving abilities
Easily adapt to changes in the business environment
Think in a structured way
Quick learner
Liaising with Asset Managers and other investment service providers
Understand Pension Fund industry trends and the investment management industry
Willing to put in long hours when needed
