PRIMARY PURPOSE
Wilderness owns and manages prime properties in many African regions and plans to expand its global footprint.

As a business, we rely on the experience and quality of our camp offering and the knowledge of our reservations and sales teams to close sales.

Doing this allows us to strive toward our vision. The role of the

Destination & Logistics Trainer is to enhance the reservations and sales team's knowledge of the region's logistics, concessions and destination experiences offered across our unique portfolio as well as strategic and preferred third-party suppliers.


Destination & Logistics Trainer will play a key role in fostering a culture where continuous learning is encouraged, creating excitement and eagerness to learn about new destinations beyond areas travel shops specialise in.

  • This position can be based in either Johannesburg or Cape Town.

Detailed Responsibilities:


  • Responsible to create, manage and deliver detailed training on the Wilderness ground handling products and services. This includes our camps, touring services and Wilderness Air but focuses on travel and connections.
  • Ensure that staff know where they can access information about thirdparty suppliers and Wilderness ground handling operations.
  • Train new staff in all logistics in the areas we operate or offer DMC services in (Including area's where we may not always have Wilderness Product).
  • Implement holistic product training modules incorporating ecotourism, hospitality, sustainability, wildlife and community influences.
  • Training will need to be detailed to highlight the areas within which we operate and the method on how our ground handling services run. This includes keeping abreast of logistic changes.
The logistics and destination training will need to cover topics such as:


  • Wilderness Flying schedules and operational days.
  • Movement between recommended crosscountry destinations, including transfers, flights, activities, driver/guide information etc.
  • Destination USPs and essential areas of interest for each country we operate in, as a DMC or Wilderness camps & services capacity
  • Distinctions of each destination in their method of operation (Example, driver and guides in Rwanda and Serengeti vs mostly flying in Kenya, traffic updates of each main hub connecting airport to airports/ camps/ hotels)
  • Assessing product knowledge levels, planning upskilling and elevating the product awareness and a culture of learning in our business.
  • Be responsible for developing training materials on the key platforms to provide training both in person and virtual onboarding sessions with our regional travel shops in collaboration with our Trade Marketing team.
  • Create and audit documentation, videos and elearning courses that facilitate training on the various platforms and software solutions that the business uses. Sharing all training materials with the Sales team selling in the B2B space.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Qualification:


  • A wildlife or hospitalityrelated qualification.
  • I.T qualification is advantageous.

Experience:


  • 510 years' experience in hospitality is advantageous.
  • Prior training experience in the wildlife and/or hospitality industry.

Skills:


  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to supervise multiple projects.
  • Consistent approach to quality of output and natural teaching techniques.

Personal Abilities:


  • Team worker and ability to interface with various departments.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral, in English.
  • Selfstarter with high energy levels.
  • Great interpersonal skills.

Interests:

A passion for wildlife and a commitment to sustainability and conservation.
