PURPOSE


As the Manager Technical (Electrician), your primary responsibility is to oversee and manage all aspects of related hard services to the upkeep, repair, and optimization of all technical systems, associated reticulation and proficiently monitoring systems including but not limited to back up emergency power, generators, air conditioning units (HVAC), UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems, transformers, fire and gas systems, mechanical systems, lifts, building structures, public address systems, general maintenance, plumbing, irrigation, renewable energy systems, electronic systems, lighting systems, gas and fire systems and building management systems.

Your role involves ensuring the smooth functioning, safety, and efficiency of these critical systems within the organization's infrastructure.

The Manager Technical (Electrician) plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and functionality of critical hard services and relevant systems.

They must exhibit strong leadership, technical proficiency, and strategic thinking to maintain operational efficiency while minimizing risks and downtime for business continuity.


You will engage with the following stakeholders:

The key stakeholders include:

Internal Stakeholders:

  • Facility Management Team: Collaborate with facility managers to ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of hard services in the organization's physical facilities.
  • Operations Team: Work closely with operations teams to understand hard services requirements for daytoday activities and coordinate maintenance schedules to minimize disruptions.
  • IT Department: Engage with the IT department to align hard services infrastructure with technological requirements and ensure seamless integration.
  • Project Management Teams: Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to integrate hard services into new construction or renovation projects.
  • Finance and

Procurement Teams:
Work with finance and procurement teams to manage budgets for hard services maintenance, repairs, and projects.


External Stakeholders:

  • External Contractors and Vendors: Collaborate with external contractors and vendors for specialized hard services, equipment procurement, and project execution.
  • Regulatory Authorities: Engage with regulatory bodies and comply with hard services and electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations. Communicate regularly with external auditors to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Community and

Environmental Groups:

Depending on the nature of the organization and its projects, there might be a need to engage with local communities and environmental groups to address concerns related to hard services and projects.


  • Government Agencies: Work with relevant government agencies to obtain permits, approvals, and ensure adherence to local regulations.

Executive Leadership:

  • CEO, CTO, or

CIO:
Provide regular updates to executive leadership on the status of hard services, projects, compliance, and any critical issues. Present financial projections and justifications for electrical and hard services initiatives.

Safety Teams:
Collaborate with health and safety teams to establish and enforce safety protocols related to hard services systems.


  • Compliance Teams: Work closely with compliance teams to ensure adherence to industry regulations, codes, and standards.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance strategy for hard services to minimize downtime, optimize performance, and extend the lifespan of equipment including planned preventative management and optimizing the performance of the value chain. Preventative, condition based, statutory, routine and breakdown and incident maintenance will form part of the strategy.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of technical and maintenance staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure adherence to maintenance schedules and quality standards. Drive a competent and committed workforce, operating in an ethical and values driven manner.
  • Vendor Management: Collaborate with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers to procure necessary parts, equipment, and services while ensuring costeffectiveness and adherence to service level agreements including meeting BBBEE procurement standards.
  • Budgeting and Planning: Develop and manage budgets for maintenance activities, forecast expenses, and strategize costsaving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
