Faircape Health Tokai Estate is a Sub Acute Care and Rehabilitation Centre which provides restorative care and rehabilitation for patients recovering from a variety of medical conditions that include Medical, Neurological, Orthopaedic, Surgical and Respite.

Our Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) of leading healthcare professionals administers care in the most therapeutic environment possible and supports healing outcomes in all aspects.

We are seeking a
Pharmacist at Tokai Estate.

Your portfolio will cover the provision of pharmaceutical services for all the residents by taking responsibility for patients' prescriptions and scheduled medication.

This high-end facility is located near the Blue Route Mall and in close proximity to all major transport routes.


Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Evaluation of a patient's medicine-related needs by determining the indication, safety and effectiveness of the therapy
  • Dispensing of any medicine or scheduled substance on the prescription of a person authorised to prescribe medicine (inpatients and outpatients)
  • Furnishing of information and advice to any person with regard to the use of medicine
  • Determining patient compliance with the therapy and followup to ensure that the patient's medicinerelated needs are being met
  • The provision of pharmacistinitiated therapy
  • The compounding, manipulation, preparation or packaging of any medicine or scheduled substance or the supervision thereof
  • Distribution of medicines within the hospital/institution in accordance with the Medicines Act including: Emergency cupboard, emergency trolley,schedule 5 and 6 medication as well as ward stock to other Faircape facilities according to procedures in place.
  • Prescription monitoring to ensure that prescribing and administration of medicines are monitored regularly and to ensure compliance with accepted practice and safe systems of work and encourage effective prescribing.
  • The packing, checking and administrative management of UDC (blister packs)
  • Ensure billing of any items issued is completed and up to date (including inpatient and outpatient accounts)
  • Ensuring medical aid authorization of chronic medication for outpatients.
  • Record keeping and housekeeping according to Good Pharmacy Practice guidelines and pharmacy procedures.
  • Providing training and support to pharmacist's assistants as well as nursing staff when required
  • Reporting of medication discrepancies/ errors, medication administration errors as well as adverse drug reactions to the responsible pharmacist.
  • Ensuring continuous professional development by means of the pharmacy quality assurance program: Acting in accordance with ethical principles and meeting criteria of competency standards.

Requirements:


Qualifications - BPharm and SAPC registered with relevant experience.


Experience and Knowledge

  • Minimum 1 years of related experience.
  • Propharm and Clinic Manager experience would be advantageous
  • Hospital experience will be advantageous.
  • Able to carry out all dispensing activities as per SAPC.
  • Sound numeracy skills.
  • Knowledge of Acts ,Regulations and guidelines pertaining to the Pharmaceutical Industry.
  • Indepth knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance and the impact this can have on the business.

Working Hours:


  • Monday to Friday from 09h00 to 18h00 and 4 hours 2x Saturdays per month (10:0014:00)
Starting from Rx. Cost to Company per month depending on experience and qualifications.
