An established financial organisation requires an organised and motivated Deal Origination & Investment Analyst looking to grow in leadership and make a difference through finance and impact investing.

They are looking for a highly capable and commercially minded financial professional to support the company's continued growth.


Responsibilities:


  • Perform financial statement analysis on client companies to assess lending and gearing capacity i.e. conduct profitability, serviceability and gearing ratios i.e. ICR, DSCR, LTV's and other financial strength and weakness assessments. Objective is to determine whether client can raise new funding and if not what would be general requirements to facilitate a deal
  • Perform operational and commercial assessment of client with objective to also understand key business risks and strengths and whether these factors support a capital raise for the client
  • Perform investment analysis of client against industry and competitors
  • Prepare investment memorandum on client or debt/deal/financial packs for potential investors and funders
  • Prepare financial models, forecasts and budgets including being able to interpret and interrogate the numbers
  • Pitching deals in summary and on a detailed basis to investors/funders including up to executive level
  • Have strong Investor Presentations Skills
  • Financial Modelling, negotiation of legal agreements and credit/investment decision making
  • Client and Stakeholder management
  • Ad hoc financial analysis as needed to support internal business decisions and grow alternative revenue streams for Paragon
  • Perform on going deal analysis, business case analysis, covenant tracking and risk management/monitoring
  • Has the ability to operate well within a small, highly specialised, and growing team
  • Pragmatic, practical with excellent time management skills with ability to prioritise
  • Ability to function independently
  • Strong team player who is both committed and flexible
  • Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to assess and improve processes
  • Keeping abreast of local and global financial industry trends
  • Ability to originate capital raising mandates from the market using own and company networks

Requirements:


Technical Competencies:


  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills
  • Sound technical understanding of tax, accounting, legal
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • Sound working knowledge of Excel (complex formula modelling of income statement, balance sheet, cashflow statement, stress testing and scenario analysis), Powerpoint (develop & design powerpoint presentations), Word & Google Slides
  • Have strong project management and time management skills
  • Have ability to self manage, prioritise work and be strong deal executioner

Minimum Qualifications:

***- CA(SA) / CFA / CIMA Qualification

  • Regulatory Exam 1 or 5 under the FSCA will be an added advantage
  • Driver's license and own vehicle
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience in Finance / Accounting / Banking / Property (preferable)/Asset management (beneficial)
  • Experience in Complex lending transactions in the SME & Mid-Corporate segment
  • 35 years' exposure to Credit Audit/Assurance, Investments, Loan Portfolio Management and Small Business Lending
