Overall Job Purpose
The Test Lead reports to the Test Manager and will establish metrics (such as test execution rates against planned rates), manage and lead outside resources against project plans, as well as developing test programs


This includes:

  • Establish and evolve formal quality assurance (QA) processes, ensuring that the team is using industryaccepted best practices.
  • Develop and manage the execution of test cases, plans and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Analyse various system and business specifications to define the scope of work and depth of the test plan.
  • Liaise with business and/or technical representatives to elicit and document test and implementation requirements.
  • Translate test requirements into test cases.
  • Formulate test and implementation communication plans.
  • Set up/adjust test plans for all types of testing (e.g., system / performance / regression / integration testing).
  • Establish test and implementation work streams/project teams.
  • Coordination of all test and implementation activities.
  • Identify and the management of test and implementation risks and issues.
  • Identify and manage test data.
  • Manage the identified defects and bugs to resolution.
  • Preparation of test and implementation schedules, dashboards, and reports.
  • Monitor test and implementation progress according to the schedule and escalate where parties are not on course to achieve timelines.
  • Manage test and implementation incidents across all involved parties and escalate where necessary.
  • Prepare and facilitate the testing and implementation sign off process.
  • Propose contingency plans and strategies based on emergent testing and implementation realities.
  • Prepare comprehensive testing close out reports

Role / Person Specification

Education and Experience Required:


Preferred qualifications:


  • ISTQB Test Management Certificate (or equivalent course).
  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Computer Science.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification will be preferred.

Minimum experience:


  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Test Lead responsible for testing and implementation of large complex projects or programmes in the financial services and banking industry.
  • Experience in test leadership role within the financial services and banking industry will be advantageous.

Knowledge:


  • Knowledge of test management methodologies, specifically test and implementation stages
  • Knowledge of the National Payment System (NPS)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and governance in the financial sector
  • Knowledge of Card, EFT and High Value payments environments is advantageous.
