Well-established multi-disciplinary company seeks a Project Director for their

Battery Energy Storage System projects.

Johannesburg based.

As Project Director for Renewable Energy (BESS / Solar) you will manage and optimize performance of Energy Vault BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) and PV
_photovoltaic)_ projects. You will collaborate with project engineers, construction managers and outside vendors and consultants as well as the commercial team.

As we rapidly grow and deliver on more contracts countrywide, you will help document and build scalable processes, technology, and products.


For the position you would be required to have:

  • B.Sc/ B. Eng in Electrical Engineering, Pr. Eng with ECSA
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with experience in Battery Energy Storage, Solar, Wind farm and other Renewable Energy in the context of engineering, estimation, construction, development, origination, consulting, finance, or project management
  • Minimum of four years of proven operation and maintenance experience for two or more PV projects being equal to or greater than 1 MW
  • Experience with managing major projects, preferably in the building of power stations or PV or other utilityscale power projects
  • Project experience in BESS and PV
  • Familiarity with energy industry technology (batteries, inverters, PV modules, PV mounting systems, the balance of system components, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Have a valid driving license and own vehicle.

Responsibilities would include you to:


  • Initiate and coordinate the technical review process among internal specialists (including civil and electrical engineering, energy assessment, technology experts, permitting, battery safety, etc.)
  • Contribute to the review of contracts and technical specifications of energy storage projects and products, including warranties, offtake agreements, supply agreements, service agreements, and financial models
  • Communicate with clients to provide timely and relevant project updates and deliverables while ensuring milestones are met and expectations are exceeded
  • Build a business with existing and new clients and develop proposals in response to solesourced requests or RFPs
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts for the team, including tool development, process refinement, and lessonslearned activities
  • Convert technical content with vague and incomplete information into wellinformed, riskmitigated conclusions
  • Coordinate construction and operational monitoring, including performing site visits, reviewing construction documents, progress reports, schedules, budgets, change orders, and invoices to ensure the project is built as designed to meet performance expectations
