Group Mining's purpose is to provide value add technical solutions and support based on strategic and operational analysis of opportunities across the Group's portfolio.

This includes supporting the business units with high value Resource Development Planning (RDP), integrated Life of Asset Planning (LOAP) solutions and continuous mine modernisation through implementation of new technologies and systems.


Job Description:


  • We are seeking a Principal Life of Asset Planning to develop LOAP for operations that are aligned with the strategic guidance outlined by the RDP. This involves leading the integration of collaborating disciplines to establish the best operational execution strategies required for optimal longterm value realisation. This role is an active "hands on" role requiring significant time actively using mine planning software to solve problems.
The role will require international travel.


Key role requirements:


  • Lead the development and implementation of systems, processes and standards for LOAP execution.
  • Maintain and monitor adherence to planning, scheduling and reporting systems for LOAP execution including early identification and reporting of any potential issues.
  • Coordination and alignment of the LOAP and consultant resources for the successful completion of the prioritised work programme.
  • Develop and maintain a framework for the effective engagement with and influence key stakeholders to build alignment and drive integrated planning outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain systems and processes to identify, assess and control all risks that might affect successful delivery of LOAP plans.
  • Support the consolidation, review, documentation and presentation of LOAP inputs and outcomes to senior leadership.
  • Manage the engagement, progress and performance of consultant work packages.
  • Support the LOAP process by providing inputs, assumptions and constraints as required.
  • Provide detailed mine planning, operational execution and stakeholder management expertise.
  • Complete assigned mine planning tasks aligned with the scope, specifications and standards for LOAP development, assessment and implementation utilising relevant software.
  • Identify and assess opportunities to maximise value to Anglo American while always ensuring safety, health and environmental impacts are considered appropriately to promote sustainable operations.
  • Support the review of LOAP options for business planning and investment decisions as required.
  • Participate in Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve Reporting processes on an annual basis as required.
  • Participate in the review of measures for mining operations to monitor compliance to plan.
**Qualifications

  • Formal Qualifications**Required:
  • Bachelors degree in Mining Engineering.

Desirable:

  • A postgraduate qualification (Masters / Doctoral degree or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.

Technical skills / knowledge requirements:


  • Extensive career depth and breadth in both open pit and underground operations covering a range of commodities and operating conditions.
  • Experience in a group role or consultancy role focusing on Life of Asset Planning projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large multidisciplinary technical and operational teams to deliver integrated business plans.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an operational mining environment preferably with the relevant commodity.
  • A demonstrated thought leader and considered an accomplished practitioner in strategic mine planning.
  • Track record of leading ideas generation; translating these into practical initiatives to be implemented and demonstration of successful execution and delivery of LOAP for individual mine operations.
  • Track record of successfully liaising with senior leadership teams.
