The Production Manager leads and manages all assigned production operations, responsible for safety, quality, planning, productivity, people management, cost management and continuous improvement for all production operations.

This position serves as strategic leader, coach, and driver of Dr Oetker's strategic initiatives in the plant.

The Production Manager will be required to implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working pr act ices and processes.


WHAT THE ROLE ENTAILS

  • Safety: Champion all aspects of personal and Plant Safety. Instill a sense of self responsibility for safety among employees. Exhibit a safetyfirst attitude in all that is done and assure the safety of the employees and the safe use of the equipment, including housekeeping and environmental compliance. Lead plant safety team.
  • Operations: Production planning and scheduling, ensuring that all required raw materials are available in time and in the right quantities for production processes.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish, monitor and achieve Plant operating metrics and expense budget. Establish and monitor annual goals and objectives for the plant. Communicate KPI goals. Drive accountability throughout the various departments.
  • Capacity/Throughput: Manage the capacity and capability of the Plant working with the Assistant Production Managers, Production Supervisors, Artisans and Plant Management to meet planned demands, optimizing plant efficiencies and minimizing WIP between unit operations.
  • People: Build, develop and manage a high performing team to instill ownership of production objectives through selection, performance assessments, talent management, training, and development of associates down to the production general worker level. Lead team to be capable of carrying out the short and longterm strategies of the plant.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and employee engagement within the process engineering team.


  • Material Usage Variances

  • Accurate tracking of raw material usages and wastage on all lines, and the ability to identify deviations and put in place corrective measures to bring the process in control.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering /Chemical Engineering /Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and continuous improvement tools
  • 6 years of experience in the food manufacturing industry, of which 3 must be in a leadership role
  • High level of numeracy and budgeting understanding
  • Staff management experience
  • Good at MS office including Excel and other Programs

Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent


Pay:
R55 000,00 - R60 000,00 per month
