Job Purpose:


The role is responsible for accessing data, developing data gathering protocols and dashboards, preparing and presenting performance results, and monitoring data quality to ensure progress towards the Airline's goals.

This will necessitate clear comprehension and monitoring of all main performance drivers relevant to the airline industry such as OTP, Aircraft Performance and Staff Productivity levels.


The Specialist will design the necessary processes and techniques for analysing and reporting on relevant information on a regular basis taking into consideration applicable legislation and regulatory frameworks, in order to enable the Airline to achieve improved planning and strategically aligned decision making, lower operating costs, operational efficiency and improved customer experience.

The role is also responsible for aircraft landing, parking and navigation charges. The role will be required to develop and design Operational processes.


Principal Accountabilities:


  • Provide input to the design of the Operational Excellence Strategy taking into account specialist expertise specialist expertise, best practice, benchmarking and market standards
  • Implements Operational Excellence strategy within area of responsibility
  • Recommends policies, processes, action plans and systems to support implementation of the strategy
  • Conduct research into best practices against business requirements/challenges in order to optimise practices
  • Analyse cost drivers and provide recommendations on profitability of the department
  • Support the management and control of budget
  • Provide recommendations to actively support cost and headcount containment
  • Utilises resources in area of responsibility
  • Optimise technology to enhance internal and external customer expectations
  • Implements processes to deliver customer value
  • Drives customer centricity within areas of control
  • Maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships through appropriate relationship building and networking
  • Ensure that appropriate governance systems are in place for area of responsibility and in line with future requirements, i.e. policies, procedures and reporting structures
  • Enforce Governance and Risk Management policies, processes and systems
  • Deliver on regular and timeous reporting of information to key stakeholders
  • Drive continuous optimisation programmes, projects and initiatives
  • Access data, develop data gathering protocols and dashboards for the Airline's performance drivers
  • Prepare and present performance results to relevant stakeholders for informed decision making
  • Monitor data quality to ensure progress towards the Airline's goals
  • Actively supports and adheres to people processes and plans to deliver on divisional objectives
  • Provides support to team members to maximise productivity and development
  • Implements change initiatives with the vision and strategic direction of the Airline
  • Lives and role models the Airline's values

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer science or related field with a focus on data collection, data analysis and/or analytical research
  • At least 35 years' experience in data modelling and data processing (data mining, social network analysis, text mining, etc.)
  • At least 35 years' experience in Airline Operations and associated operational systems
  • Experience in working with multidisciplinary teams
  • Proven experience in distributed architectures applied to big data
  • Proven experience in working within a complex operational/commercial role with a clear value added focus

Knowledge and Skills:
