Work Description
The Research Nurse provides professional research nursing service to study participants & to meet study nursing requirements.


YOUR DUTIES WILL BE TO:


Provide Clinical Services:


  • Conduct of abbreviated medical history during followup
  • Physical examination of participants, including pap smears, pelvic, genital and rectal examinations
  • Drawing of blood and collection of mucosal specimens
  • Conduct and provision of contraception/counselling
  • Monitor vital signs and ongoing preexisting conditions
  • Manage participants as per protocol
  • Referral of participants to clinicians for further investigations
  • Followup of adverse events and concomitant medication in conjunction with the research clinician
  • Conducting offsite visits to clinical visits

Participant management:


  • Screening of volunteers and potential study participants from target populations
  • Obtain and accurately document informed consent from volunteers if needed
  • Administration of behavioural questionnaires
  • Complete case report and data collection forms
  • Perform daily quality checks and data corrections
  • Continuous monitoring of trail participants to ensure timeous reports on safety.

Qualification / Professional Membership

  • Degree/Diploma in Nursing
  • Diploma in Primary Health Care /Community Nursing
  • Registration with South African Nursing Council as a professional nurse
  • Research and GCP certificate an advantage
  • Knowledge & understanding of treatment, care & management of HIV and STIs

Experience:


  • At least 3 years' experience in HIV/AIDS and STI's
  • Experience in MS office package
  • Previous experience in network protocols
