Looking for a SIM Specialist to join the VAS planning and IT Delivery teams on a contract basis. The SIM Specialist will manage the design, development and testing of SIM card-related projects. The key measure for this role is the timely delivery of projects and the quality of products. The position will be based in Johannesburg.

This role requires:

Specifying SIM electrical profiles in cooperation with SIM vendors (planning, analysis, troubleshooting and testing)
Supporting project teams and partners with SIM profile definition (technical understanding to deliver what is needed)
Managing relationships and technical resolution with SIM card vendors
Aligning SIM card activities and strategies in line with global best practices
Monitoring SIM strategy and industry roadmap to support the introduction of new SIMrelated technologies and features
Ensuring conformance and compliance in line with the organisations SIM card specifications and global SIM card standards
Specifying acceptance test documentation, and participation in the execution of these test cases
Reporting on project statuses internally.

The person requires the following experience:

(preferable) Working directly for or with any of the digital security vendors providing SIM/smart cards

- technologies, e.g. G&D, IDEMIA, Gemalto, VALID and Net1;
- (optional) Engineering degree in Telecommunications, Computer science or Electronic;

Have worked in the following teams:
IT,
Telecommunications,
DevOps, and
VAS systems;

The person requires the following SIM skills:

Having wide knowledge of SIM-related technologies and environment:
SIM electrical profile, applets, cryptography, SIM OTA platforms and protocols,

- eSIM technology and ecosystem (SMDP and SMSR),

Understanding SIM card lifecycle, as well as SDLC;
Liaising with SIM vendors, supply chain, product and IT teams;
Being part of the SIM key generation process;
Assisting with ordering new SIM cards;
Being part of SIM customisation, maintenance and programming;
Developing and planning SIM card technology roadmap in line with the organisations strategy;
Being innovative by recommending new SIM products that can increase revenue and improve efficiency;
Ensuring the proper execution of SIM card testing;
Being able to troubleshoot SIM card and OTArelated problems;
Engaging and escalating failures with SIM card vendors;
Maintaining strategies and procedures for SIM card specifications and profiles.

The person requires the following technical skills:

Good scripting skills in any of the following scripting: (e.g. Perl, Python, sh, ksh, csh, Linux/Unix shell);
Good programming skills (e.g. Perl, Java, Python, C/C++);
Good database skills (e.g. Oracle SQL, MySQL);
Solid understanding of networking and internet protocols;
Systems analysis and design;
Enthusiasm about the telecommunications industry;
Knowledge of IT hardware and infrastructure architecture;
Performing and understanding Wireshark and network traces;
Being involved with handset interaction tracing;
Engaging with the product, supply chain and marketing teams to align product and device roadmap;
Having a broad, systemlevel understanding of mobile network infrastructure;
Know how to integrate different IT systems;
Being able to implement, integrate, and troubleshoot information systems;
Being able to validate data systems and ensure interoperability between data sources.

Good document writing skills with the ability to map out use cases in a detailed, yet clear and concise

- manner in the context of doing Systems Analysis and design;
