Role purpose:

Join the Vodacom Group Data & Analytics team as a member of the Data Governance team.

In this team you will have the opportunity to add meaningful value to the business and advance your analytics career as we embark on a journey to advance data governance.

You will be responsible for the development of data governance controls for high value, high risk data assets within the company in accordance with the Data Governance Policy.

This role will require the individual to have basic data analyst skills such as coding, data visualization creation, and the ability to reconcile different data sources.

The position will allow an individual to advance their data analytical skills as well as gain considerable stakeholder management experience as they work with businesses to unlock and resolve complex business challenges and make practical recommendations to drive improvement in data quality.

Your responsibilities will include:

Data Flows and Business Processes - To support the functional data owner in understanding the data flows and business processes for each data asset and recommend any enhancements

Data Reconciliation - Ensure data reconciles between different systems, as well as between different tables within the enterprise data warehouse

Data Governance - Obtain a detailed understanding of Vodacom's core business data domains and its different attributes to design and implement data quality controls as well as data glossary

Data Analysis - Analyse technical data quality rules built in Abinitio to ensure an accurate reflection of the data governance score per data asset.

Data Asset Remediation - To support data steward and data warehouse integrity team to ensure all data quality issues are resolved timeously

Must have technical/professional qualifications:

Degree/diploma in computer science, engineering or related degree/diploma
2+ years of working experience in Data Governance
Developer experience in visualization tools like Tableau, Qliksense or Power BI
Experience in Abinitio for Data Quality (Express IT) and Business processes considered to be favourable
Trained in Agile to deliver as part of a high-performance diverse team across different technical capabilities
Telecommunication experience would be advantageous

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

Data Analyst - Experience in interpreting and analyzing complex & huge volumes of data through effective data processing and query languages to identify data quality and alignment gaps
Analytical Skills - Problem-solving ability to understand technical data models and different data structures to identify data quality gaps
Documentation Skills - Ability to well document identified compliance gaps with suitable recommendations
Agile Experience - Ability to work in an Agile squad, working in a cross functional team to ensure incremental data product delivery

Team player:
Excellent team player capable of supporting the different business teams

Application knowledge:
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, Word, Excel Project, PowerPoint as well as Qliksense, Abinitio and Jira.
