Senior Researcher - 12 Months
The Consultant Senior Researcher will be responsible for:
- Collaborating with stakeholders to identify research priorities and develop research proposals.
- Designing research methodologies and data collection tools, ensuring alignment with ethical standards and best practices.
- Overseeing data collection, analysis, and interpretation, employing appropriate quantitative and qualitative research techniques.
- Providing technical guidance and support to SANAC and its partners.
- Synthesizing research findings into comprehensive reports, policy briefs, and other dissemination materials.
- Presenting research findings at meetings, conferences, and workshops to diverse audiences.
- Contributing to the development of grant proposals to secure funding for research initiatives.
- Facilitating knowledge exchange and collaboration with external researchers, institutions, and agencies.
- Conducting capacitybuilding activities, including training workshops and seminars, to strengthen research skills within the SANAC and its stakeholders especially Civil Society.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Honours/Masters Degree in Public Health, Development Studies, Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, and/or a related technical field. A PhD or equivalent will be an advantage.
- Five to ten years' experience in Public Health, Development Studies, Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, and/or a related technical field and Monitoring and Evaluation of HIV and TB with a good record of research publications
- Indepth knowledge and understanding of the South Africa HIV and TB epidemic and national response, the legislative, and policy environment including the National Strategic Plans on HIV, STIs and TB and SANAC's mandate.
- Aptitude for policy, strategic planning, system development and organizational skills, including results orientation.
- Proven ability to work with large data sets and ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses.
- Demonstrated proficiency in research design, data analysis, and interpretation, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to lead multidisciplinary research teams and manage project timelines and budgets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience working in multicultural or international settings, particularly in low
- Familiarity with ethical considerations in research involving key and priority populations, including people living with HIV/AIDS.
- Valid Driver's license.
Duration and Deliverables:
- The consultancy contract is expected to commence on
01 June 2024 and conclude on 31 March 2025.
