PURPOSE


The main purpose of the role is to develop a framework that will provide financial analysis, support and guidance for long term strategy formation and key projects, to support and monitor performance of the business, generate in-depth analysis, insight and to support the business planning; forecasting processes and budget control efforts.


You will engage with the following stakeholders:

  • Cost Centre Managers
  • Product Managers
  • Customers and Suppliers
  • Lenders
  • Senior Management & Executives
  • ERP Providers
  • SARS, PASA, Banks

Your key responsibilities include:
Financial Management

  • Along with the Head FP&A oversee the Forecast revenue and expenditure of the group
  • Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities
  • Understand the profitability and growth drivers for the business and ensure that the key insights are well understood
  • Prepare and oversee company scenario planning and longterm strategy planning
  • Reporting and measurement of metrics related to planning and achievement of strategy
  • Develop and build complex financial model to support commercial case opportunities
  • Drive best practice, iterative improvement, and innovation at a strategic deployment level
  • Provide input into Group budget, demonstrate cost awareness and control and report on revenue, costs and volumes
  • Manage and control project and programme costs
  • Analysis of Financial Operations and contribution to forecasting (Opex & Capex)
  • Prepare, analyse and report on monthly operational spend, budget, income, expenses and cashflow
Initiative/ projects for continuous improvement

  • Demonstrate innovative thinking in area of expertise and translate this into business process/ solutions/ working practice improvements
  • Deliver client or company specific projects in line with company standards and in agreement with line manager
  • Track the performance of products/channels by developing financial models
  • Develop business cases and other models/frameworks in order to provide
  • Support and contribute to business case analysis
  • Contribute towards the establishment of measurable performance parameters and standardised sources for measurement, in order to evaluate ongoing success of such decisions
  • Analyse, monitor, challenge and advise and on investment and CAPEX items against anticipated risk and returns to evaluate viability and profitability
  • Assure consistency and expertise for all business case/ financial modelling
  • Identify business improvement and optimisation opportunities that will result in improvement of process performance
  • Drive compliance of subdivision activities, models and business cases governance protocols and policies
  • Conduct post implementation analysis for products/channels to identify patterns and learning points
  • Support of ERP system implementation and process improvement initiatives
Support Services

  • Provide a support service by working with all departments and managers to help make improved financial decisions
  • Perform sensitivity analysis to help management make decisions to improve business performance
  • Prepare Scenario modelling to cover strategic outlook and support strategic decision making
  • Respond to ad hoc queries regarding financial information
Finance Performance Analysis and Management

  • Provide input into the development of performance measures and KPIs at various levels of the business (operations, products/channels, markets, margins, profitability etc.)
  • Provide ongoing analysis to track product / channel efficiency to enable the business unit to make sound product/channel management decisions regarding product scaling or decommissioning
  • Create P&L for each channel to enable assessment of standalone performance of each product / channel
  • Oversee the forecasting, planning and reporting for all channel on an ongoing basis and providing reporting insights
  • Monitor performance deep dive root cause assessments and constructively challenge outcomes as a means to improve performance
  • Review and submit reports for the Head: FPA and CFO addressing periodic activity, budget compliance, feedback and key departmental results to facilitate decision making
  • Prepare reports on operational performance and detailed reports on specific projects when required
Acquisition and Retention

  • Contribute towards product pricing, tariffs and product/channel policy decisions
  • Understand the pricing points and purchasing patterns in the different products/channels within the portfolio and across products/channels and conduct profitability analysis
