Description

A beautiful 4* Hotel situated in the grounds of an historic Wine Estate in the Stellenbosch area is searching for a
HEAD HOUSEKEEPER to start as soon as possible.


Applicant's already residing in the Stellenbosch area (or close surrounds) with OWN TRANSPORT will be preferred.


The Head Housekeeper will assist with supervising and supporting the housekeeping department, implement and monitor systems and conditions that provide guests and operations with outstanding service.

Liaise with all appropriate internal and external parties, demonstrating service excellence and a positive guest experience at all times.


Examples of duties & responsibilities:

  • Implement and monitor policies, processes and standards to ensure effective high
- quality housekeeping service is provided to guests and hotel operations

  • Assist with scheduling staff, delegating work and managing outputs of team
  • Implement and monitor processes to understand the department's needs and expectations of guests, and report on these
  • Provide direction, oversight and guidance to the housekeeping team
  • Ensure housekeeping department implements all relevant security and health and safety policies, processes and procedures
  • Ensure the housekeeping team provides impeccable service to guests and hotel operations consistently
  • Ensure the development of a housekeeping team that pay attention to detail, take initiative, and work competently and confidently as one team
  • Ensure processes reflects a care for spaces, furniture, and equipment
  • Work closely with HR and other support functions to ensure systems and procedures are adhered to as required
  • Perform HR related administration and ensure that it is kept up to date and reporting submitted on time
  • Deal with complaints, solve problems, special guest requests and any other issues that may arise.
  • Consistently strive to achieve maximum performance and promote a professional serviceoriented environment at all times.

  • Maintain effective and positive working relationships with team members and other operational/ support areas.
  • Be flexible to assist in other departments as the need arises and when operationally required
  • Understand the company's values and strategic goals, and work within these parameters while challenging convention and looking for 'new and better ways of doing things' to maximize business operations
  • Identify areas in which waste can be reduced, financial savings made and monitor service practices to achieve waste reduction targets
  • Ensure that all housekeeping team members receive regular performance feedback and support their documented development plans

Skills, experience & educational requirements:


  • Relevant tertiary degree desirable
  • At least five years' experience within the hospitality industry with practical knowledge of the housekeeping operation
  • Previous experience in a supervisory capacity with the ability to convey clear instructions to colleagues while being mindful of tight operational deadlines
  • Ability to focus intently on ensuring consistent highquality personalised service
  • Fluent English speaker; additional languages desirable
  • Competent working knowledge of Word and Excel, Outlook and Opera/ Fidelio (or other Hotel Management Systems)
  • Efficient time management skills
  • Keen attention to detail with excellent followthrough capabilities
  • Diplomatic and able to deal with people at all levels with confidence and ease, friendly and welcoming disposition
  • Able to remain calm and maintain professional outlook, even when under pressure
