Job Advert Summary:
The SHC Specialist is responsible for the management of Safety, Health, Risk and Compliance portfolio
Develop, Implement and promote a health and safety culture within the company
Communicate health and safety incidents and accidents through toolbox talks, suggestion boxes and observations made.
Minimum Requirements:
Required Experience:
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience in Transport Industry, Manufacturing or FMCG
- Relevant Industry body professional membership
- Safety auditing, Managing audit and Leading audit experience
- Accidents and incident recording and investigation
Required Qualifications:
- Grade 1
- Degree or Diploma in Safety Management
- SAMTRAC qualification will be an added advantage
- Health and Safety Management Systems Auditing certificate
- Excellent Knowledge and Application of OHSAS and regulations
- Computer Literacy in MS Office

Duties and Responsibilities:
(Role, Responsibilities and Key Activities):
Health and Safety
- Develop, Implement and promote a health and safety culture within the company
- Communicate health and safety incidents and accidents through toolbox talks, suggestion boxes and observations made.
- Review and update institutional HSE policies and conduct risk assessments to detect potential hazards and plan precautionary measures.
- Preparation of health and safety documentation for new tenders.
- Provide updates on all new or amended health and safety legislation.
- Coordinate the monthly health and safety meetings.
- Conduct all risk assessments as required by legislation and update/review at relevant intervals and to maintain records of the same.
- Maintenance of ISO and Quality Management systems.
- Assist in training of safety representatives.
- Develop and empower employees to take ownership of the HSE management system through relevant training and workshops
- Ensure health and safety representatives, first aiders and fire fighters training are up to date
- Ensure Compliance to all H&S related legislation
- Conduct accident investigations as and when required
- Conduct or organise HSE internal Audits
- Ensure compliance to standards including liaison with internal and external committees
- Following up on compliance issues that require investigationInternal Advert
