The primary responsibility of Service Transition Management is to oversee, manage and coordinate the activities a team in the completion of client transition of IT service components or a complete subset of a client IT environment from the client or existing outsource provider to successful operation in the NTT environment.


This role ensures that transition projects adhere to all required governance processes, utilise the correct tools and that client requirements are met.

Key Role and Responsibilities:


  • Oversees and leads service teams in the delivery of outsourced solutions.
  • Manages technical aspects of the project and is responsible for overseeing vendors and subcontractors.
  • Oversees the delivery of continuous and effective services and ensures project completion within budget and in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Identifies areas where continuous improvement can be applied.
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Own the transition process, develops the organisation's approach and defines the acceptance criteria for service transition.
  • Act is the point of escalation for transition projects and will take responsibility for resolving or owning the resolution of all escalated issues.
  • Remain current of developments in the transition management arena and maintain their expertise on transition management approach and methodology
  • Manage risk and minimise potential failure by planning and ensuring the execution of all testing, training and change management activities.
  • Contributes to the Pre-Sales process by partnering with the internal stakeholders to understand the client's requirements and to plan and design the required transition process.
  • Required to undertake due diligence investigations to determine exact client requirements.
  • Work according to standard and set project management methodologies to plan and manage the execution of service and outsource transition projects.
  • Engage clients in planning sessions and scoping sessions and use the outcomes to create detailed documentation that will include project definition, project planning, work break down structures, budgets, schedules and project reporting and controls.
  • Establish positive relationships with the client stakeholders and engage with them on a regular basis.
  • Plan and coordinate engagement sessions with the client and prepare for and facilitate these sessions.
  • Ensure that all parties remain informed throughout the process by ensuring that the required communication and reports are prepared and distributed on a regular basis.
  • Identify resource requirements for the transition project and negotiate and agree the use of the resources.
  • Compile baseline budgets for transition projects and manage and report against signed off budgets.
  • Compile process definition and the requirement specifications for toolsets and resources required to deliver the service.
  • Ensure that the NTT environment is prepared, configured and equipped to operate and support the client service according to agreed Service Level Agreements
  • Ensure the execution of service validation and testing and take responsibility for service release and deployment.

Knowledge, skills and attributes:


  • Excellent knowledge of project management methodologies, tools and standards (both Waterfall and Agile)
  • Business and commercial acumen coupled with strategic thinking ability
  • Ability to balance delivery with agreed and contracted expectations
  • Effective and professional leadership and people management skills
  • Ability to professionally handle complaints, problems and issues, managing resolutions and corrective actions
  • Ability to develop and enhance client and stakeholder relationships
  • Indepth understanding of IT industry and expertise on transition management approaches and methodologies

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Information Technology
