Synopsis

Are you a meticulous professional with a passion for payroll accuracy and compliance? We are hiring for a Payroll Compliance Specialist to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg.


This position is responsible for the administration of all personnel data in the payroll system and the preparation of payrolls.

Your role will include processing payroll-related taxes to ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and contractual client obligations.

Qualification and Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years of postqualification experience in Administration and Payroll.
  • Experience with employee relations and Performance Management Systems.
  • Diploma in Business Administration (ideally with a focus on Human Resources) or an equivalent qualification.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare payroll, including calculating hours worked and benefit deductions from timesheets and other records.
  • Transmit payroll data to finance systems and issue payment files.
  • Record changes affecting net wages, such as exemptions and tax directives.
  • Prepare detailed reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
  • Ensure changes registered in HR and Operational systems are accurately reflected in finance systems, such as new hires and terminations.
  • Update payment instruments and manage Compensation & Benefits tasks.
  • Ensure time, expenses, and benefits are accurately captured.
  • Ensure all payroll tax data is compliant with regulations and legislation.
  • Resolve payroll taxrelated issues efficiently.
  • Ensure timely completion of all tax payments, filings, and reconciliations.
  • Conduct thirdparty payroll tax audits (External/Internal/SARS).
  • Escalate potential payroll issues promptly.
  • Participate in periodic reviews of all payrolls to ensure compliance.

Job Requirements

3-5 years' experience in:

  • Bi Annual and yearly submissions
  • ROE Submissions
  • Understanding of bargaining council and unions
  • Understand and implement principles around 3rd party payments (medical aid, pension funds etc)
  • Advantage if they have COIDA exp
  • Understanding of compliance within a payroll environment
  • MIBCO/ Road freight exp
  • Must be able to deal with stakeholders / management team and clients
