  • Ensuring that the maintenance system is updated, maintained, and implemented in a timely manner.
  • Writing reports on abnormal issues which arise from time to time.
  • Drawing up work instructions for staff to sign and ensuring the adherence thereof.
  • Manage the full job card system from receiving the requisition to closing off each job with accurate details recorded on the current maintenance system.
  • Assist with sourcing items for other departments
  • Update the planned maintenance roster on a weekly basis and provide motivated improvements that will lead to optimal function of the factory.
  • Check the preferred supplier list every 3 months to ensure we obtain items that are good quality and value for money from a supplier with good customer service.
  • Manage projects to upgrade certain parts of the factory; comparing pricing and recommending which suppliers to use for each project; placing orders and ensuring payments are made and stock is delivered/collected to meet project deadlines.
  • Run the daily maintenance meeting to go through completed job cards, allocate new job cards to the team, get updates on what we need to order to complete maintenance jobs and give updates on projects.
  • Draw up and manage night shift, weekends, and public holidays for maintenance department.
  • Update the planned maintenance roster on a weekly basis and motivate new areas where planned maintenance will lead to optimal function of the factory.
  • Provide all completed job cards to General Administrator (Christina Smal) to capture onto the system and post along with the updated minutes of every meeting.
  • Monitor project progress and handle any issues that arise.
  • Ensure that correct parts and sizes are ordered.
  • Act as the point of contact and communicate project status to all participants.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports.
  • Any reasonable requirements and responsibilities as decided by management.
    Inherent Requirements

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Btech/Bsc Mechanical Engineering
  • System orientated.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • 35 years' experience within the maintenance field.
  • Ability and willingness to work irregular and extended hours.
  • Sound verbal, written and telephonic communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Deadline orientated.
  • Energetic and flexible disposition.
  • Proficient organisational abilities.
  • Precise and accurate nature, as well as attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills.
