Description

To manage the creation and delivery of both the short term and longer-term business supply plans, up to a 24-month horizon, in order to optimise customer service, maximize profit in terms of product mix, minimise cost (processing, distribution and working capital) and facilitate the overall supply chain delivery of innovation.


To manage the ordering process of packaging and ingredients, as well as the physical management of the packaging and ingredients stores, and associated stock levels (including stock accuracy and obsolescence).

Responsibility includes determining when Finished Goods or raw materials need to be procured either locally or imported to supplement inhouse production.

This may also mean working with the commodities procurement team in order to secure key materials,


Where applicable, manage the loading and despatch of Finished Goods to meet customer delivery requirements (time slots, delivery equipment and snake loading) and ensure all commercial requirements are reconciled with the finance team.


Duties & Responsibilities:


Strategic Planning

  • Develop forward supply plans for 1224 months based on demand forecasts.
  • Contribute to the 5year strategic planning process.

Operationalization of Functional Strategy

  • Collaborate with senior managers to shape the supply chain strategy.
  • Ensure implementation of the strategy through aligned team targets.
  • Lead supply chain planning projects.

Supply Planning

  • Manage supply planning to balance national supply with demand.
  • Optimize customer service and profitability while minimizing costs.
  • Identify and address capacity constraints.

Short-Term Supply Planning

  • Develop detailed production plans considering constraints.
  • Prioritize production to maximize profitability.
  • Align thirdparty facilities with planning procedures.

Stock Management

  • Maintain optimal stock levels while reducing costs.
  • Manage national stock covers and minimize variances.
  • Coordinate with executive to prevent unnecessary costs.

Material Requirements Planning

  • Generate appropriate material requirements plans.
  • Minimize financial exposure and work on reducing complexity.
  • Collaborate with suppliers for improved processes.

Distribution Management

  • Manage dispatch to maximize customer service.
  • Ensure accurate billing and resolve issues promptly.
  • Maintain system integrity and data accuracy.

Sales and Operations Planning

  • Provide input for demand planning and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with teams to balance supply and demand.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the inbound supply chain.

Innovation/Discontinuation

  • Manage innovation and product discontinuation.
  • Minimize costs associated with discontinuation.

Supply Chain Reporting

  • Measure and report national KPIs.
  • Drive action plans based on KPI analysis.

Project Management/Participation

  • Contribute to projects for process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Manage administration and document processing.

Staff Management

  • Monitor and coach staff performance.
  • Develop succession plans and champion training.

KPIs

  • Customer service levels
  • Supply bias and SKU compliance
  • Stock covers and writeoff costs
  • Working capital and inbound reliability
  • Distribution costs and budget management.

Minimum Requirements:


Education/Qualiications:


  • Relevant 3 year degree or Supply Chain Diploma
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the supply chain field, including at least 3 years in a management position, is required.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of supply chain principles, practices, and tools.
  • Proficiency in demand planning principles and tools.
  • Knowledge of production processes and relevant KPIs.
  • Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems (e.g., Syspro).
  • Understanding of RCL Foods' business processes and product portfolio.
  • Knowledge of plant and machinery capacity.
  • Awareness of product specifications and quality standards.
  • Familiarity with category/business team strategies.
  • Understanding of customer and product priorities.
  • Proficiency in interpreting multiple key performance indicators and their interrelationships.

Skills

  • Proficient in computer literacy, particularly with SAP/Syspro and Group cube reporting.
  • Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel.
  • Effective interpersonal relationship management.
  • Negotiation skills for managing supplier relationships.
  • Logical thinking and problemsolving abilities.
  • Ability to make informed decisions based on available information.
