We're looking for a Director of Debt Capital to report into Chief Financial Officer


This role can be based in the UK, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa - role will be remote with some international travel.

Working within the following time zone (UTC -1 / UTC+3).


You're excited about this opportunity because you will:


  • Manage Fund Raising, you'll build a strategy around Debt Capital:
  • On-Balance Sheet (both secured and unsecured facilities)
  • Develop ongoing relationships with potential funders
  • Structure and negotiate loan facilities, including covenants
  • Manage debt funder DD processes and RFIs
  • Local currency/hardcurrency
  • Off-Balance Sheet
  • Develop and run offbalance sheet funding strategy
  • Develop Hedging Strategy related to debt

Manage our Existing Debt Facilities and own the whole lifecycle:

  • Manage debt funder relationships
  • Report covenants and other reporting requirements related to debt facilities
  • Manage repayment schedules
  • Lead on any restructurings required.
  • Respond to auditor requests on debt facilities
  • Provide regular input into FP&A team on aspects related to debt

Guide Asset-Liability/Capital Adequacy Management across the organisation:

  • Maintain the appropriate balance of Assets to Liabilities
  • Set and maintain the right mix of debt instruments (on vs offbalance sheet, local v hard currency, secured v unsecured etc)
  • Monitor and stress test capital risk, liquidity risk, funding risk, interest rate risk, forex risk (as it relates to funding), refinancing risk against ALCO Committee defined risk tolerances.
  • Prepare material for ALCO Committee and management related to financial asset and liability management

We're excited about you because you have experience with:

  • Have 8+ years or equivalent experience in Capital Management, Corporate Finance, Debt Capital.
  • Have experience in strategic finance, special purpose vehicle, debt management.
  • Have experience helping achieve topline growth
  • Comfortable operating without a plan and manage a culture of creativity, risktaking, experimentation and learning.
  • Have experience setting up strategy and action plans with measurement frameworks.
  • Have experience leading and implementing growth projects independently and with across the organisation.
  • Great at collaboration and communicative in a changing environment where collaboration and understanding people is required. You have enthusiasm for making colleagues successful throughout the company.
  • Work with internal partners in a remote work environment
