Being part of Minrite Operations and a well-established team, you will represent the Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) function in Durban.

This is a full working day, operational role, where you will work independently on a variety of tasks.


Reporting to the Operations Manager day-to-day, and the SHE Manager functionally, you will be encouraged to maximize your potential by being equipped with adequate resources, technology, and time to accomplish your goals.

  • Core Outcomes_

Health and Safety

  • Develop, implement, and improve the health and safety structures, plans, programmes and procedures in the workplace
  • Work towards an inclusive SHE management system (ISO45001)
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation
  • Identifying and facilitate OHSrelated training needs in the workplace
  • Conducting safety inspections and risk assessments
  • Investigating workplace accidents
  • Communicating and reporting on OHSrelated activities
  • Collate, file and distribute SHE statistics to relevant stakeholders
  • Facilitate, conduct/review hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA), which must include hazard analysis, environmental aspects
  • Manage contractors on site to ensure compliance to regulatory and company requirements
  • Coordinate and manage near misses raised on the factory
  • Ensure cost savings for the SHE department by obtaining three quotes for all services and purchases
  • Conduct emergency drills for the factory
  • Achieve factory ASIB Compliance for the factory
  • Coordinate fire equipment checks and tests

Security

  • Management site security and the appointed security company
  • Ensure perimeter fence security
  • Ensure no unauthorised access to site
  • Ensure only authorized vehicles enter the site
  • Update the traffic management plan and system
  • Manage the security cameras
  • Develop, implement, and manage emergency planning and management for the site
  • Develop, implement and manage response plan for incidents on route from raw concentrate suppliers

Environmental

  • Ensure internal and external reporting of all requirements, incidents and deviations in accordance with the employer's environmental management plan (EMP)

Legal Obligations

  • Ensure that legal appointments as per legal requirements are made and maintained
  • Coordinate and facilitate the Legal & Compliance audit
  • Communicate SHE legal updates to the affected employees
  • Audit and Update the legal register
  • Key Functional Requirements_
  • National Diploma in Safety Management/ Equivalent
  • Radiation Monitoring certificate
  • A minimum of 35 years SHE Officer experience in a similar operation environment
  • ISO45001 & ISO14001 implementation and auditing will be advantageous
  • South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (SAIOSH) member
  • Ability to communicate in English and Afrikaans
  • Experience in using Microsoft Teams
  • Working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, and Excel

Salary:
R22, R24,000.00 per month
