The position reports to - CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER


Overview:


The purpose of this role is to ensure that the organisation delivers against its mandate, by demonstrating effective impact into the economy by using sustainable and viable investment principles set against annual broad based key performance targets and budget.

This must be achieved by implementing effective and sound investment processes, policies and procedures and strategically leading, directing and motivating teams against set Annual Performance Plans (APP) and the Balance Scorecard.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Keep abreast of regulatory, government policy, etc. developments that could impact how the company discharges its mandate. Educate/ inform the business in time of any such developments.
  • Manage the operational relationship between government stakeholders (
    the dtic, National Treasury, Parliament, other government departments) and the company in respect of the above responsibilities.
  • Maintain and further develop a strategic planning framework, supported by a wellstructured and coordinated process, that will ensure a disciplined way of organizational planning, that is aligned to
    the dtic and National Treasury planning process and timing.
  • Manage all projects surrounding the strategic and business planning process, coordinating activities, collating and consolidating information and data from strategic conversations within the organization for inclusion in the strategy and business plans.
  • Draft, review and submission of the company's annual strategic and business plans.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the performance monitoring, reporting system.
  • Build and maintain relationships with executives and senior management and other key

- stakeholders.
  • Monthly engagements with internal stakeholders on significant investments and providing guidance.
  • Involvements in stakeholder engagements on ESD, Relationships by Government
- departments with the organisation.
  • Submit and obtain approval on annual key performance indicators on a balanced score card approach with respect to transaction activity for the funds. Present these key performance indicators in the context of a rolling threeyear strategy. Enter into an annual performance contract containing these agreed key performance indicators and targets.

Leadership Role:


  • Work closely with other executives to ensure the company meets its overall key performance targets.
  • Enhance managerial and leadership skills to achieve the organisation's objective/s.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Executive Committee for Investments and Operations.
  • Support the CEO in the strategic leadership of the organisation and overall achievement of the mandate.
  • Attend and participate in Board Investment Committee and other Board Committees as and when required.
  • Maintain and develop relationship networks in the business and public service sectors.
  • Promote the role and mandate of the company at all times.

Qualifications/experience:


  • Masters degree is essential or Post graduate qualifications in either Strategic Management & Leadership and/or Economics
  • Development Finance /Financial industry experience is essential and overall business exposure
  • Minimum of 10 years, with a strong career track record, heading up and leading the Strategic Planning Division at a strategic level, and managing the daytoday activities of the Department
  • Ability to position the organisation effectively to gain market confidence and credibility, to identify and source large amounts of finance
  • Demonstrate high EQ and IQ that inspires strong team performance
  • Strategic, financial and commercial astuteness at a strategic level coupled with seasoned business judgment
  • Strong strategic competence and track record aligning vision, strategy and its' execution, and policy formulation and implementation
  • Solid track record in change management, reengineering operations and procedures and leading large multiple projects whilst inculcating a performance culture
  • Passion for development finance coupled with a commercial acumen to balance the two
  • Strong track record in implementing and leading multiple projects that will improve operational efficiencies and processes
  • Strong negotiation, project management, analytical, decision making and interpersonal skills dealing with diverse stakeholders
  • Clear, confident communication ability and style that can influence, motivate and inspire investors, funders and shareholders
  • Uptodate understanding of and a strong commitment to good corporate governance, and specifically regulatory reporting requirements, including an appreciation of the PFMA
