THE ROLE


As a Programmes Assistant focusing on local programmes, this role is crucial in expanding the presence and reach of Muslim Hands South Africa nationally.

The purpose of this role is to develop programmes that support vulnerable communities across South Africa and will require a high level of engagement with beneficiaries to support them through various programme areas including WASH, food and livelihoods assistance, health, and education.

As the Programmes Assistant, you will be responsible for:


1.


Local Project Management:


  • Lead on the delivery of local projects by managing project lifecycles including carrying out needs assessments, drafting proposals and budgets as well as project implementation and reporting.
  • Manage the daytoday running of local projects including compliance with project management requirements as well as compliance with local and national regulations.
  • Assist management with developing a national programmes strategy and expanding the national presence of Muslim Hands South Africa by identifying, assessing, and formulating ideas to support vulnerable local communities in line with national objectives which will require maintaining a good understanding of national priorities and development goals.
  • Liaise and work closely with fundraising and events teams as well as other departments to provide timely and accurate feedback as well as supporting fundraising and promotional activities.
  • Ensure relationships with partners and suppliers are maintained and developed.
  • Support the coordination of volunteers engaging with local projects.
  • Actively work to improve the quality and scale of existing and future projects and provide regular updates to management.

International Project Support:


  • Assist when required with the management of international project lifecycles, including requesting, reviewing, and approving project concept notes, proposals, and budgets across various thematic areas.
  • Provide support in providing feedback to donors and managing where required donor complaints and concerns.

Other:


  • Promote and adhere to all Muslim Hands Policies, Procedures and Professional Practices.
  • Adhere to all safeguarding requirements especially when dealing with vulnerable beneficiaries and ensure risks are mitigated and highlighted.
  • Assist with any other duties as reasonably required to support the organization.
