Key Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Provide legal paralegal and executive administrative support to the Group Legal Counsel in order to enhance Group Legal Counsels office effectiveness;
  • Independently draft various legal documents, including letters of demand, contracts and the like using appropriate precedents;
  • Read, conduct legal research, review, verify and draft legal opinions, reports and legal documents including RFQs and Tender Responses to bids and contracts;
  • Transcribe, review and proofread legal documents and contracts;
  • Take ownership of delegated assignments, multiple matters and ad hoc legal duties but knowing when to act and when to refer matters to the Group Legal Counsel;
  • Develop and maintain an efficient document filing and retrieval system as well as digital archive systems for office of Group Legal Counsel;
  • May be required to liaise with attorneys and maintain upto date case files and records and report back to Group Legal Counsel;
  • Research and maintain upto date records of pertinent legislative developments;
  • Manage and maintain the Group's legal precedent library;
  • Manage and maintain the Group's other legal records and document libraries;
  • Take dictation and minutes and accurately enter data;
  • Facilitate the meeting of numerous deadlines by keeping multiple agendas and provide timely reminders;
  • Handle requests and queries appropriately;
  • Liaise with the Groups executives and directors under guidance and direction of Group Legal Counsel;
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in all tasks.

Knowledge Skills And Abilities required:


  • Proven experience as a Paralegal /Executive Legal Administrative Assistant for 5 years or more.
  • Full comprehension of office management systems and procedures.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Exemplary planning and time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize daily workload.
  • High level verbal and written communications skills.
  • Discretion and confidentiality.
  • Accurate, attention to details and conscientious.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment, react quickly in a timepressured environment and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with remote teams/management.
  • Autonomous and proactive.
  • Provide accurate and timely reports on all legal matters to Group Legal Counsel when required and on a regular basis.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Matric
  • Paralegal diploma qualification
  • Bachelor's degree in law advantageous
  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience in a corporate commercial legal department of a company as a Paralegal or corporate law firm with good experience in contract law drafting and reviewing, regulatory compliance, general knowledge of labour law, litigation, providing general legal advice on various matters etc.
  • While extensive legal Technology law experience is not expected, familiarity with LegalTech concepts and Technology law is advantageous. General knowledge and experience in Intellectual Property law, Privacy law, Cybersecurity law, Information Technology law highly advantageous.

Duration:

(4 Months fixed term contract)
