An opportunity has become available in our buying team for a Senior Buyer in our Total Sports Branded Apparel area.

If you're passionate about Activewear and have sound buying experience, then this is the position for you.

As a Buyer, your responsibilities will be:

Successfully source and procure a range for Total Sports branded apparel (Men's, Ladies & Kidswear).
Procure and range build appropriate ranges aligned to the strategy with special attention to quick response and trading opportunities.
Work closely with the planner, through analysis of previous sales patterns, market trends and brand initiatives.
Formulate departmental strategies to maximize sales and then timeously source and secure stock to implement strategies.
Negotiate effectively.
Build and maintain good relationships with staff, suppliers (both nationally & internationally) and key functions in the business.
Think in terms of the "big picture" as well as consider specifics and detail.
Assess complex situations and implement workable solutions.
Build partnerships with Brands
Be able to coach and mentor Trainee or Junior Buyers
Be aware of trends and market place activity both locally and internationally
Experience as a Buyer (5+ years essential)
Have experience as a Men's or Women's or Kids branded apparel (3+ years advantageous)
Have a high degree of organisation and prioritization skills
Have a strong business acumen and merchant thinking
Excellent planning, organising and interpersonal skills
Have a high degree of decision making ability and be service orientated
Be assertive and communicate at all levels.
Be a team player
A proven solid track record in buying
An interest in and knowledge of trends.
A working knowledge of the current computer software packages (knowledge of Excel, Word & Email would be preferable).
Assertive and proactive
Have a Trader mentality
