Company Description

  • A Contracts Manager is responsible to ensure all financial targets are met.
  • A Contracts Manager is responsible to complete and submit tenders for the responsible region and maintain a healthy workpipeline.
  • A Contracts Manager is responsible to source and appoint JV partners in line with the client requirements as and when required.
  • A Contracts Manager is responsible to have monthly meetings with the JV partners and all minutes signed and recorded in the Minute book as per the SGS procedure.
  • A Contracts Manager is to ensure all client requirements regarding the JV partner, including but not limited to skills development are met.
  • A Contracts Manager is responsible to ensure a healthy Manpower Ratio, LC, Productivity ratio on all site and commercial labs under his/her control.
  • A Contracts Manager is responsible for all site establishment and deestablishment.
  • A Contracts Manager is responsible to ensure all monthly siteaudit reports and preventative maintenance are submitted by the site managers and saved on the correct server.
  • A Contracts Manager is responsible to ensure the performance procedure is implemented and maintained throughout the assigned region including all performance goal setting, communication, evaluation and feedback sessions are done up to standard and timeously.
  • A Contracts Manager is responsible to ensure the accreditation and Health and Safety regulations requirements are adhered to in and around the reporting laboratories, including SANAS and 5S.
  • A Contract Manager is responsible for ensuring the correct test methods are followed, verifications and monthly audits completed, and reports submitted/stored on the server.
  • A Contracts Manager is responsible to assist the site laboratory managers and reporting staff with any technical queries.
  • A Contracts Manager has the responsibility to attend Technical Meetings on site with the clients and contractors on a regular basis.
  • A Contracts Manager is to ensure all mandatory training are completed before the communicated deadline by the Business Manager.
  • A Contracts Manager is to manage the recruitment, appointment, onboarding, terminations, and payment of staff within his assigned region.
  • A Contracts Manager is to manage all disciplinary procedures, communication, and training in line with the SGS procedures.
  • A Contracts Manager is responsible liaison with clients for receiving job instruction.
  • A Contracts Manager is to do the final checking and approval of report prior to issuing to client.
  • A Contracts Manager is responsible to perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the authorized region and business managers.
  • A Contracts Manager is to verify calibration of equipment according to schedule.
  • A Contracts Manager is to carry out corrective actions as necessary.
  • A Contracts Manager is to identify staff for skills transfer per department per site on an annual basis and manage the process.
  • A Contracts Manager is to do planning of work and submit forecast and other reports to the Regional Manager and Business Manager as and when required.
  • A Contracts Manager is responsible for the successful marketing & business development within his/her assigned region.
  • A Contracts Manager is responsible to create and maintain a healthy work environment for all reporting staff within the assigned region.

Qualifications Education**- Grade 12 / NQF- Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering / Geotechnical Engineering and/or a minimum of proven years of civil laboratory management, knowledge, skills and experience sufficient to be recognized as a qualification through - Recognition of Prior Learning.

  • Proficiency in various types of computer software (full MS office package Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years relevant working experience in managing civil material laboratory sites.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant tendering and quotation experience within the civil engineering industry.
  • Experienced to manage the human resources aspects of the business.
  • Experienced to manage the commercial and financial aspects of the business.
  • Experience in business development.
  • Excellent customer service, client support, and business service consulting skills
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fastpaced, highly professional environment
  • Ability to work well with others & independently
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Ensures full compliance with the company's Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional
  • Conduct policies
  • Must have ability to make strong business decisions and be held accountable
  • Have an instinct for issue identification and implement the appropriate solutions
  • Fluent English. Regional preferred language is an asset.
