Our JHB based client is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized individual to join their team as a Bookkeeper. As a Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and reconciling accounts.

You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our financial systems and providing essential support to our accounting department.


Responsibilities:


  • Manage and maintain the general ledger, including recording transactions, posting entries, and reconciling accounts on a regular basis.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and issue invoices to clients and customers, and follow up on outstanding payments as necessary.
  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card statements, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Assist with monthend and yearend closing procedures, including generating financial reports, preparing adjusting entries, and participating in the preparation of financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and relevant regulations.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient filing system for financial records and documents.
  • Collaborate with other team members, such as the accounting manager or financial controller, to support financial analysis and reporting needs.
  • Stay up to date with changes in accounting regulations and best practices, and make recommendations for process improvements.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience working as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and accounting software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial recordkeeping.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Discretion and respect for confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.
