Minimum Requirements

Relevant tertiary qualification; BEng / B. Tech, (Mechanical Engineering). Professional registration will be highly beneficial.
General mechanical understanding of all yellow plant equipment.
3+ years experience in a plant engineering and maintenance managerial position.
At least 5 years experience in a mobile plant environment, (preferably opencast mining).
Management qualification, (or equivalent) with a strong focus on finance specifically budgeting and cost control will be advantageous.
Computer literate

Key Responsibilities

Planning, Leading, Organising and Controlling all activities related to mobile asset management strategy.
Managing the performance of the plant supervisors in terms of the laid down criteria.
Development and implementation of world class performance and safety standards in order to optimize life cycle costs of equipment.
Effective achievement of plant performance goals
Effective management of financial budgets to achieve optimal utilisation of the companys mobile plant.

Duties will include but are not limited to tasking and supervision of the following areas:

Ensure safety standards are adhered to in accordance with the companys HSE policy in respect to applicable plant.
Monitoring of equipment availabilities on a daily basis.
Managing plantrelated lifecycle costs in accordance with budgeted metrics.
Creation and Implementation of asset maintenance philosophy.
Ensuring that the Companys preventative maintenance systems are adhered to.
Ensuring that subordinates have the necessary resources (eg. spares and manpower) to complete set out tasks.
Recommend and implement training and staffing requirements for areas of responsibility.
Ensuring that month end reports relating to areas of responsibilities from sites meet deadlines.
Preparation of monthly plant performance reports.
