An exciting opportunity has become available within the Construction Services industry, for a Legal Assistant / Paralegal. The position is based in Cape Town or Pretoria.REQUIREMENTS:
- Paralegal Diploma / Law Degree
- Relevant experience in either private practice or inhouse legal division
- Previous exposure to the built environment will be advantageous
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Legal support:
- Providing legal support to the different divisions of the company: Finance & Management Support / Management Programme / FCA's / Professional Services
- Drafting of legal documentation, including contract templates, default notices, PSP appointment letters etc.
- Vetting and compliance: All legal documentation drafted on behalf of third party funders
- Monitoring ongoing litigation and disputes, vetting court documentation where applicable
- Client liaison
- Attorney liaison
- Liaising with employers and/or Consultants on legal matters on behalf of Company and/or clients
- Attending to registration of securities and signing of irrevocable payment undertakings and perfecting of securities
- Attending to legal correspondence with all relevant stakeholders, including employers, clients and third patties
- Assisting with special tasks
- Assist in monitoring legal risk
- Identifying and managing legal risks for the Company, such as changes in legislation and in the construction environment
- Conducting investigations and liaising with investigating officers where required
- Contacting clients and obtaining signatures and ensuring that all documents are correctly executed
- Liaising with various banks and activating opened bank accounts
- Prepare files after all relevant documentation has been gathered
- Gathering the necessary documents to ensure that contractors' insurance is in place
- Providing copies of all relevant financial documentation in respect to each project to accounts department
- Attending to recoveries and debt collection
- Managing debt collection on behalf of the Company
- Setting and meeting collection targets as per agreement by the Company
- Attending debt collection meetings
- Instructing external attorneys per requirement
- Attorney liaison
- Report on legal matters
- Drafting and submitting of reports to Legal Manager as required
- Attending to inhouse HR administrative matters
- Drafting offers of employment & employment contracts
- Assisting with disciplinary matters including the drafting of disciplinary documentation e.g. charge sheet / record / outcome
