Purpose of the role


The Group Ethics Office is an independent function established to manage the implementation of an ethical and responsible business culture within and across the organisation.

The Office is therefore responsible for, amongst other things, conducting regular risk-based assessments for ethics and human rights; setting strategy and applicable standards for the management of ethics and human rights; conducting end-to-end ethics investigations pertaining to employee conduct and organisational culture; developing and coordinating the implementation of various strategic initiatives; training and awareness; business advisory; and monitoring and reporting on the state of ethics and human rights for the organisation.


  • Develop and implement a mature risk management and reporting process for ethics and human rights risk.
  • Support the strategic effectiveness of the reporting and governance process for the Ethics Office through the production of highquality consolidated reports and governance submissions to relevant committees.

Outputs/ deliverables (main items)

  • Develop and implement an effective risk management process for ethics and human rights in business, including the identification of key risk indicators, risk treatment and response strategies, risk escalation structure, reporting metrics and dashboards.
  • Gather, review and analyse data from varied qualitative and quantitative sources, and compile accurate, high quality, and insightful reports to facilitate the effective monitoring and management of ethics and human rightsrelated risk.
  • Proactively identify trends or horizon issues and assist in integrating these issues into broader Office and organisational interventions strategies.
  • Continuously monitor local and international trends and best practice initiatives to support the governance and management of ethics and human rights within the group's operations and its supply chain.
  • Support the Group Ethics Officer in relevant governance and reporting processes, including through the planning and submission to relevant committees as and when required.
  • Develop and review all ethics and human rightsrelated codes, policies, frameworks and statements for the group.
  • Support the Group Ethics Officer in the implementation of the Group Human Rights in Business Framework and Human Rights Plan, based on effective risk management methodologies.
  • Build professional relationships with stakeholders and provide independent advice and guidance to employees and business functions on ethics and human rightsrelated queries.
  • Identify opportunities and take steps to enhance collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure that ethics and human rights are managed holistically and effectively at an enterprisewide level.

Formal Qualification

  • Minimum qualification: Relevant 3 year degree (Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management, Business, Commerce, Management studies, Strategy or Industrial Psychology).
  • Postgraduate qualification would be preferable.
