Jacobs Clean Energy SA (Pty) Ltd, in Cape Town, who predominately work in the Nuclear (Energy) Industry for Koeberg, are seeking a Contract Administrator with a passion to lead and support our project teams, in terms of contract management, to achieve successful delivery of our portfolio of large EPC projects.

The Contract Administrator will work closely with the Project and Construction Managers and manage the contracts, claims, commercial, legal, risks and governance aspects of the various projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing the contracts lifecycle from bid negotiation, through to project execution and warranty phases, including but not limited to review and draft of amendments, contractual documents, renewal of contracts, etc.
  • Preparation, drafting and management of NEC correspondence, Early Warnings and owner of the Contract Risk Registers, Claims and Compensation events
  • Monitoring, drafting and reviewing all contractual correspondence between Jacobs and its customers and subcontractors/vendors
  • Support and champion the contractual change management process. This includes drafting and review of change orders, claims, back charges and penalties, defence of incoming claims visavis customers, subcontractors and key vendors
  • Safeguarding contractual obligations including tracking and timely issuance of notifications, monitoring of milestones and payment in cooperation with the project team
  • Focal point for promoting awareness on contracts provisions. Prepare initial contract review, organize contract induction meetings, issue reports, interpretations and assessments on contracts
  • Verifying, in conjunction with dedicated departments, that all insurances and guarantees required by the contracts and subcontracts are in place and maintained
  • Assisting purchasing department in the negotiation of contracts with subcontractors and vendors. Implement backtoback subcontracts
  • Cooperation and liaison with corporate functions, e.g. projects, finance, legal, compliance, IP on specific matters and possible disputes

Here's What You'll Need:


  • Contracts Administration
  • NEC essential (other FIDIC, etc. beneficial)
  • Relevant project industry experience
  • Minimum 3 years
  • Commercial Management experience
Additional Requirements

  • Negotiating with customers, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Building and managing relationships with customers
  • Monitoring the contract progress of projects
  • Providing direction to the project managers and project teams
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks
  • Commercial strategy and the commercial direction of projects and the business
  • Jacobs Interface management and Group Policy Implementation.

Qualifications:


  • Degree in law or appropriate commercial qualification
  • Proven knowledge of NEC suite of contracts
