EIGHTEEN (18) MONTHS FIXED-TERM CONTRACT

The main responsibility of the Research Counsellor will be to oversee all in-clinic research implementation activities, including identifying, approaching, introducing, consenting, and enrolling participants at their ART initiation visit.

The Research Counsellor(s) will also be responsible for delivering U=U or Standard of

  • Care messaging at (1) ART initiation, and (2) monthly inclinic booster messaging.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Qualification as a HIV counsellor
  • 1year experience of working with within a research/ community health environment
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Fluency in English and isiXhosa
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to maintain effectiveness during changing conditions
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Administration skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of the mobile clinic team
  • Client focused
  • Must be detailorientated
  • Willingness to travel and work irregular hours, including weekends

Advantageous:


  • Experience in a researchrelated position
  • Certificate of competence Rapid Finger Prick* testing
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Certificate
  • Knowledge of HIV

Responsibilities:


  • Providing welcoming and supportive environment to clients regardless of race, gender, or HIV status
  • Provide basic HIV/ARV education to participants individually and in groups
  • Assist in tracking of participants enrolled into research projects
  • Accurate and complete questionnaire administration
  • Participate in recruitment and consenting activities
  • Followup telephone calls with study participants
  • Assist with community surveys.
  • Assist with filing research forms and patient files.
  • Maintain strict client confidentiality
  • Capturing study data on mobile app
  • Weekly and Monthly progress reports on research participation (recruitment, enrollment and retention)
