- Professional Engineer in Mechanical Engineering (Pr. Eng (Mech)
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Pr Eng (Mech) in a chemical, refinery or similar plant environment, preferably chloralkali manufacturing
- Familiar with financial budgeting and capex management
- Experience in working with operational excellence and world class manufacturing principles
- Experience in managing and coordinating projects, and continuous improvement activities
- Experience in using SharePoint and Corrective Action Systems (i.
- Knowledge / skills/ Competencies:
- Extensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, No. 85 of 199
- Extensive knowledge of hazardous chemical manufacturing and handling codes, preferably in a Chlor Alkali plant
- Knowledgeable on different types of equipment related to chemical manufacturing plants
- Skilled in hazard identification, risk assessment and root cause analysis
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical data books
- Knowledge on Operations Technology (i.
- Experienced in relationship building and cross collaboration at a senior level
- Strategic management, planning, coordination, and control
- Technical custodian and ability to travel locally and internationally to technical conferences
- Excellent technical knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experienced in relationship building and cross collaboration at a senior level
- Indepth knowledge of mechanical engineering
- Extensive knowledge of the OHS Act
- Indepth knowledge of Maintenance Systems, and requirements to comply with MHI processes
- Sound knowledge on Process Safety Management
- MOC, HAZOP and HIRAs
- Sound understanding of project management, contractor management, supplier management, change principles and continuous improvement
Responsibilities:
- The mechanical engineer is a technical specialist who reports to the Technical Director and has the primary responsibilities to:
- Create and/or update a technical repository/library for all information pertaining to plant mechanical equipment and installations
- Develop and/or update and implement a process to ensure that all mechanical installations comply to regulations and accepted industry standards
- Provide mechanical engineering support to the organization
- Assist in developing and optimizing asset care plans for mechanical equipment and installations
- Perform an audit function to ensure that the set standards for mechanical equipment are adhered to
- Assist in ensuring business compliance with legal and SHERQ requirements in terms of the manufacturing process
- Create and/or update a technical repository/library for all information pertaining to plant electrical equipment and installations
- Develop and/or update and implement a process to ensure that all mechanical installations comply to accepted industry standards
- Provide mechanical engineering support to the organization
- Related SHERQ responsibilities
