Looking for a competent Assistant accountant who has completed their SAIPA articles to be responsible for the accurate recording of all transactions and preparation of annual financial statements of these companies and their respective wholly owned subsidiaries.


Responsible for the accounting duties related to Companies Management Services Ltd including:

  • Liaise on a daily basis with colleagues, line manager, the secretarial department of the company, in order to ensure complete and accurate accounting of all transactions
  • Cash flow monitoring, creditors payments and bank reconciliations
  • Maintain outstanding debtor records and followup on payments
  • Maintain the fixed asset register
  • Completing and submitting regulatory returns for, e.g. Income tax, VAT payable.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual and interim financial statements in terms of International Financial Reporting Standards ("IFRS").
  • Liaise with external auditors to obtain signoff on work performed
  • Assist with the annual budget preparation
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly/quarterly management accounts and variance reports for the company and its cost centres
  • Establish work process flows and internal controls
  • Assist the Group Finance management team with various ad hoc projects that occur from time to time

Knowledge/Qualifications:


Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team orientated environment
  • Articulate with excellent communication skills in Afrikaans and English (both verbally & written)
  • Accurate, detail orientated and organised
  • Strong decision making and planning skills
  • Ability to function under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy
  • Motivated and proactive in order to grow the job beyond its current specifications
  • Computer literate excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is essential. The jobholder must be willing to master the use of new accounting and reporting software products.
  • Displays a positive attitude, willingness to aid and excellence in execution of duties

Experience
A minimum of three years' relevant experience in an accounting administration role. Knowledge of VAT, general tax compliance and eFiling
