The opportunity:

An exciting position has arisen within The FIX for a Senior Buyer.

Responsibilities will include:


  • Successfully source and procure a balanced range of merchandise in line with company strategy.
  • Work closely with the planner, through analysis of previous sales patterns, market trends and brand initiatives.
  • Formulate departmental strategies to maximize sales and then timeously source and secure stock to implement strategies.
  • Negotiate effectively.
  • Clear understanding of Value model and Quick Response
  • Clear understanding of Product development and Lead time management
  • Build and maintain good relationships with employees, suppliers, and key functions in the business.
  • Contribute to growth / profit through innovative ideas
  • Availability to go on buying trips (local and international)
  • Think in terms of the "big picture" as well as consider specifics and detail.
  • Assess complex situations and implement workable solutions.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Team player and be able to foster collaboration across buying and planning functions.

The successful person will have:


  • Have experience as a Buyer (4+ years essential)
  • Specific Footwear knowledge and experience is preferable
  • An entrepreneurial, merchantstyle of thinking
  • Excellent planning, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Good analytical skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Time management skills
  • Good communication and Collaboration skills
  • Good judgement and problemsolving skills
  • Uncompromising negotiation skills
  • High interest and knowledge of trends
  • Integral understanding of clothing retail Cycle and Buying Process
  • A good working knowledge of the current computer software packages (knowledge of Excel, Word & Email would be preferable).
  • Be open minded, customercentric, proactive
  • Have a value mindset, speed & agility and a cando mentality
  • Operate in stealth mode keep abreast of competitor activity, market trends, best practice
