THINK is looking for a qualified Professional Nurse to support the implementation of the VMMC Project.

The Professional Nurse will be responsible to ensure professional, efficient and comprehensive medical service is provided to beneficiaries by themselves and the team in terms of MMC.

Areas Covered: eThekwini outer West: Nqetho, Ngcolosi, Hillcrest Kwanyuswa, Mkhambathini, Wybank, Botha's Hill, Molweni, Waterfall and surrounding areas._

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Provides client education on VMMC and HIV.
Obtains beneficiaries medical history and conducts a physical examination.
Secures informed consent from beneficiaries or the parent/guardian prior to VMMC.
Prepares the client and minor surgical theater for VMMC.
Supervise Enrolled Nurses and Counsellors.
Restocks supplies, decontaminates instruments and equipment, autoclave.
Administers local anesthesia.
Prepares and dresses wounds.
Provides and reinforces postoperative messages.
Completes operation notes and other client record forms.
Conducts Day 2 and Day 7 client followup visits.

Required Skills:

Must be skilled in assessment, evaluation, nursing diagnosis, and treatment planning.
Must be able to provide VMMC preoperative, interoperative and postoperative management.
Must have strong nursing and interpersonal skills, especially in working with diverse populations.
Must be able to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with a culturally diverse group of professional staff and volunteers.
Must be able to take initiative, work independently, and juggle multiple priorities without compromising high standards of performance and integrity.

Requirements:

Nursing diploma and Registered with SANCA.
Completion of training and experience in a surgical and/or clinical setting.
Completion of training and experience as a Certified HIV Counselor preferred.
Experience in training clinical staff preferred.
Valid Drivers Licence.
