This position is based at the Legal Aid SA National Office in Braamfontein.


KEY OUTPUTS

  • The Property Projects Officer is responsible for the effective and efficient management of Legal Aid SA's property assets and the administration of contracts to ensure compliance with organisational policies and legal requirements.

Property Administration:

  • Acquisition and disposal of properties in accordance with Legal Aid SA policies and relevant legislation.
  • Manage leases, rental agreements and propertyrelated issues for offices and residences.
  • Conduct regular property inspections and assessments to ensure they are wellmaintained and secure.
  • Liaise with landlords, tenants and property management companies to resolve any propertyrelated disputes or issues.
  • Monitor property expenses and budgets, ensuring costeffectiveness in propertyrelated operations.
  • Coordinate the tenant installation or refurbishment for owned/leased property.

Contract Administration:

  • Draft, review and manage contracts for services, goods and leases, ensuring they align with organisational policies and legal standards.
  • Coordinate with the legal department to ensure all contracts are legally sound and protect the interests of Legal Aid SA.
  • Monitor contract performance, ensuring all service providers comply with contractual terms and conditions.
  • Handle contract renewals, terminations and negotiations.
  • Keep accurate records of all contracts and related documents.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements relating to property and contract management.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with property management and contracts.
  • Prepare and update risk management reports and compliance documentation.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare regular reports on property and contract management activities, status and expenditures.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all properties and contracts in a central database.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of property and contractrelated activities.
  • Provide expert advice on property and contract matters to Management and staff.

COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ATTRIBUTES) REQUIRED

  • National Senior/Matric certificate.
  • A National Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Real Estate or a related field.
  • Proven experience in property management and/or contract administration.
  • Knowledge of South African property law and regulations.
  • Experience in a legal or public sector environment is advantageous.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities.
  • Detailoriented with a high level of organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and property management software.
  • A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel as needed.
  • Clear criminal record.




BASIC SALARY:
Level 7 (R294, plus benefits per annum
