Job Advert Summary:


The HSC programme seeks to appoint a dynamic individual with a Matric and a relevant post-matric qualification in fields such as Office Management or Administration will be advantageous; and a 3-year appropriate administrative experience.

The incumbent will work and support a dynamic team of researchers, HSC employees and other divisional administrators in the HSRC community.

The incumbent will be based in the
Cape Town office.


Minimum Requirements:


Key requirements:


  • Grade 12 (National Certificate).
  • A relevant postmatric qualification in fields such as Office Administration/ Public Administration/ Management or Administration will be advantageous.
  • Three to five years' experience in a similar environment.
  • A proven track record, and significant knowledge and understanding administrative best practices.
  • Personal credibility.
  • Advanced computer literacy/proficiency across the MS Office suite.
  • Strong administrative experience in research or similar environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Financial acumen and knowledge of excel and figures
  • Drive, initiative, flexibility, and a proven track record to handle pressure, and a commitment to service excellence to stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide efficient administrative and organizational support to the various projects and activities where the Project Managers are based in Cape Town and regional offices as well as support to national projects; Maintain databases, file project related documents and keep databases;
  • Maintain assets database for the Cape Town office and ensure that assets in the office are properly managed;
  • Preparation of agendas and materials for meetings; minute taking and record keeping of proceedings;
  • Assist with logístical responsibilities including post, courier, office management, reception of visitors;
  • Assist with the intake and appointment of shortterm employees;
  • Assist with management of employee data engagement and for capture;
  • Facilitate printing, equipment and other project requirements;
  • Liaise with HSC administrative staff in all other centres;
  • Ensure that time billing is up to date for staff assigned;
  • Process claims and payments;
  • Facilitate travel arrangements for researchers and other employees in all HSC centres where assistance is requested and projectbased travel when required.
