Summary

Key Areas of Responsibility:


  • Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL database systems, including schema design, table creation, and data migration.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks, and implementing tuning strategies.
  • Develop and implement backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access controls, data encryption, and audits.
  • Perform database capacity planning and recommend infrastructure enhancements to support future growth.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures, configuration guides, and troubleshooting resources.
  • Participate in oncall rotation for 24/7 support and respond to databaserelated incidents in a timely manner.
  • Stay uptodate with the latest PostgreSQL features, releases, and security patches, evaluating their potential impact on our database environment.

Qualifications and Experience Required:


  • Relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of a diploma or degree.
  • At least 5 years' experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL database concepts, administration, and performance tuning.
  • Proficient in SQL and experience with database query optimization techniques.
  • Experience with database installation, configuration, and maintenance on Linux/UNIX platforms.
  • Familiarity with database security best practices and data protection techniques.
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, including pointintime recovery and replication.
  • Experience with monitoring and performance analysis tools for PostgreSQL databases.
  • Strong problemsolving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyse complex database issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with crossfunctional teams.
