Quality and Risk Manager


Reports to:
Technical Director

Main purpose of the job

To uphold quality standards and ensure effective risk management. To provide support services to directors and staff as well as clients of the firm.

Ensuring that support is provided in time and within expected time limits, through effective and efficient people and other resources management.

Skills and experience

  • Knowledge of IFRS, IFRS for SMEs required
  • Knowledge of JSE listing requirements required
  • Knowledge of GRAP required
  • Knowledge of international auditing standards and ethical requirements
Key responsibilities

Consultation and support services

  • Provide technical opinions on accounting matters
  • Perform technical reviews on Annual Financial Statements
  • Perform research on accounting and auditing matters and new standards
  • Liaise with JSE on technical matters and assist in drafting response letters to JSE
  • Attend client/audit committee meetings for discussion of technical matters (as required)
  • Liaise with technical support service clients
  • Provide adhoc technical advisory services to Nexia SAB&T directors and staff
Quality Control

  • Perform engagement quality control reviews
  • Perform internal quality monitoring reviews
  • Review appropriateness of audit opinions
  • Review compliance with auditing standards
  • Implementation of the quality control standards
Training

  • Develop training courses / workshop sessions (as required)
  • Present training to staff
  • Development of trainingrelated policies and procedures
  • Mark simulation tests completed by trainees (as required)
Audit Methodology

  • Develop and update working paper templates
  • Develop and update compliance checklists
  • Develop and update internal manuals and guides
Communications

  • Research topical issues for inclusion in technical directives
  • Writeup of technical proposals
  • Write technical opinions/reports
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to technical staff
  • Provide feedback to Technical Director
  • Writeup of articles as required
