Our client, a well-established company in the manufacturing industry, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Financial Controller to join their team in Nigel.

As a leading recruitment agency, RPO Recruitment specializes in matching highly qualified professionals with top-tier companies in various industries.
This position is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial functions of their South African businesses.

This person oversees all processes related to accounting, closing the books, financial reporting, management reporting, filing local statutory reporting, supporting internal and external audit.

This position is responsible for the managing activities related to development and maintenance of the costing system, including analysis of real costs.

Incumbent is responsible for evaluating enterprise results in terms of costs, budgets and trends. This person supervises the consolidation of results and reports the results to the US division.

This person is responsible for implementation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures as defined by the company, the Global Irrigation Division and locally, as required.

Working with the General Manager at this location, the incumbent is responsible for the internal control environment and ensuring appropriate controls are functioning at all times.

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing filing of all local requirements including Fiscal Agency reporting for VAT, income tax reporting and other statutory reporting.

This person partners with the General Manager of South Africa to drive the business forward according to the strategy and objectives of the business.

This position is also responsible for the Human Resources function of all employees in the Company:


Responsibilities:


Primary Functions:


  • Oversee finance and accounting for the South Africa facility
  • Partner with GM to drive business and oversee control environment and reporting results
  • Support Strategic Planning Process and develop Annual Operating Plan

Finance and Accounting Responsibilities:


  • Develop and maintain standard costs, review variances
  • Provide necessary information for analyzing sales margins
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to US division
  • Implement and maintain Policies and Procedures
  • Oversee local treasury functions and banking relationships
  • Work with Internal Audit annually for maintaining and testing COSO documentation
  • Ensure execution of annual external audit
  • Ensure compliance with local reporting and tax requirements

Management Responsibilities:


  • Mentor, develop, and evaluate staff performance

Essential Functions:


  • Lead using the company's values, including active participation in kaizen events and Lean problem solving
  • Commit to the company's Mission and address safety issues
  • Develop knowledge of the company's products and processes
  • Partner with other areas to support business goals

Supervisory Responsibilities:


  • Set objectives and monitor performance
  • Select, train, and motivate employees
  • Develop employee skills and personal development plans

Non-Essential Functions:


  • Identify employee training needs
  • Assist in recruitment
  • Help evaluate employee performance
  • Distribute reports
  • Assist in software testing

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or industrial operations
  • Strong understanding of IFRS, South Africa's GAAP, as well as US GAAP
  • Good understanding of taxes
  • The ability to speak English
  • Personal computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Experience working with an ERP system (JDE, SAP, QAD, etc)
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
